Celebrate & Anticipate
Fall is my favorite time of the year.
Fall combines a remembering & celebrating endings with the anticipation of new beginnings.
We recently took a road trip to Western Colorado with long-time friends . Like us, our friends are in the autumn of their lives.
For two weeks we viewed the brilliant fall colours & mountain peeks.
We also viewed our past, present & future in the magnificent light of eternity.
In Canada, Thanksgiving Day is celebrated in mid October; weeks before the return of winter.
It is a day of looking back as well as looking forward.
Our family has much to remember , celebrate & anticipate this Thanksgiving .
After the devastating floods of 2013 we see our son and wife on their new land & in their new home .
The horror of the devastating loss has been replaced with beauty & the promise of a bright future.
My husband & I have also experienced much change this past year.
We moved to a new home after 35 years in the previous one.
We have lost some old relationships & gained new ones.
There have been significant changes in how we do life.
We have exited one season of life & ministry . The dynamics of the new is yet to be revealed.
The temptation is to obey the keep out sign in the picture above.
We can view the valleys & the climb.
We can say not again.
How About You?
What is your view of the past & your speculations about your future?
I choose to keep my eyes on the High places
On lands not yet seen.
I begin to climb.
