What do you do when a ‘Broken World Slams Into Your Comfortable Life ‘? What do you do when your faith is shaken? When you need practical advice on how to do life? Such was the situation in Ephesus.

Paul puts it very succinctly .

Follow the example of Jesus

Live a life filled with love for others

In the spring of 2013 I developed a course called Mission Possible: Living Like Jesus In A Broken world. Over two days we took an honest & practical  look at  how we re-present Jesus in a broken world.

Three questions were explored
•    How did Jesus live?
•    What enabled him to live like he did?
•    How do I live the same way?

Six words can describe how Jesus lived.

The Six ‘P’s

Jesus lived in purpose, presence, peace, power & pivotal prayer .

Here is Jesus mission statement .

He welcomed people, taught them about the kingdom of God , and healed those who needed healing. (Luke 9:11)

Another way to understand his purpose is through the 3R’s –  Restoration, Revelation & Relationship.

Jesus  came to
•    Restore our relationship with the Father
•    Reveal that God is truly a Father.
•    Show us how to Relate to the Father

Jesus lived in the continual  presence of his Father .

What we have to understand is that he did that  as a human.

Philippians 2:6-7 says:

Jesus, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained, but stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being.   (AMP)

He had equal status with God but didn’t think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. Not at all. When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn’t claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion. (MSG)

Jesus had a  continual sense of the presence of God. Jesus was never anxious, or fearful or distressed.

Jesus walked  empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Pivotal Prayer

A pivot is a small turn that takes something in an entirely new direction.

Pivotal prayer is prayer that brings heavens will to earth.

Moment by moment Jesus prayed- What do I do?

Moment by moment- Father answered – Do This?

Your Mission

You & I are invited by Jesus to live like he lived .

We are invited to live in purpose, presence, peace, power & pivotal prayer.

1 Peter 2:21

Jesus left you an example so that you might follow in his footsteps.

This is the kind of life you’ve been invited into ; the kind of life Jesus lived.
He suffered everything that came his way so you would know that
It could be done & also know how to do it step-by-step.
